Listen, it doesn't matter what country you come from. Here in America you can become a law enforcement officer by being a military veteran or having an college associates degree. After a few years as a patrol officer, most departments have an open call for testing to become a detective in different departments within the city, state, or county law enforcement organization you work for. The different depts. include narcotics, robbery, homicide, and other specialized depts. And the show CSI is nothing like actual law enforcement investigations! Hope that helps. Good Luck! EDIT: Well said CALI !

txredneckcop is right, do military service. Although I come from the other side, the TV writer side, I have to agree with TX that what you see on television is not real law enforcement. In fact in most US cities the scientists in the crime labs don't work the cases like a detective does. Criminalists gather evidence and give it to the technicians in the lab. Those techs write reports for the detectives. The idea of a field cop that gathers evidence, analyzes it in the lab AND makes the arrest is a TV invention.

Oh, brother! For crying out loud. For Pete' sakes! Just join Remington Steele investigations. They don't check no background there and even if you have an Irish accent, due that you come from the UK, they take you on without checking for ID. You might also want to consult "how can I become an actress in America" and go audion on American Idol. There's 2 British idiots on that show, why not a 3rd one?

Find a way to legally live in the US....get a degree in criminal justice.

You cannot because you are not an American citizen.
