Nice place to live in England, relatively inexpensive, good music scene

Nice place to live in England, relatively inexpensive, good music scene?
I'm thinking of moving to England, but I need to know (obviously) where I'm going to live. Any suggestions? It is to be relatively affordable, close to the larger cities, and I need to know as soon as possible! Thank you! I was thinking Derby....

If you would consider Scotland, Glasgow has a great music scene, and isn't too expensive.

Brighton, UK's Gay Capital is a fantastic place, (for all sexual leanings) good nightlife, live music, close to London and major travel routes to the rest of the UK and Europe.

SOUTHAMPTON, WHOOP WHOOP!!! lol

Leeds has a kick-ass music scene. My cousin goes to university there, and I LOVED hanging with her and checking out all the awesome music venues. It's a super fun town for young ppl & musicians. http://www.leedsmusicscene.net/ If you're willing to go a little farther north you might really like Edinburgh. They have a cool music scene going on, and you'd be near Glasgow which has the AWESOME music festival. http://www.glasgowmusicfestival.org/ Derby is really pretty, but it's kinda industrial. There is a music festival there..... There's a boho community along the Cornish coast & there are musicians there, but it's more like middle aged..... If you're young I'd check out Leeds. Best of luck....
