First of all, when a lawyer knows they are going to be on TV, they PERFORM differently than they would before a court/jury without a camera on them. As does the Judge [think of that Judge in Florida with Anna Nicole Smith], the jury [never fall asleep on TV, do all the time in real life], court officers, etc. If you want to really see how it is done, ask your local bar association or some lawyers who are the really good litigators in your area, go to court, and watch them. I have really bad news for you though, a trial is actually only about 10-15% of a case. The rest is talking to witnesses, depositions, reviewing case laws, and just loads and loads of boring preparation work. The real work a lawyer does [and I am a litigator] is behind the scenes and is drudgery. Paper cuts are more common that a "gotcha" question during cross-examination.
