Cheshire is near Greater Manchester and Liverpool and i think the place is much nicer than both. Parts of Cheshire are very posh. Places like Wilmslow and Alderley Edge are very expensive and are home to people like young professionals, millionaires, etc. If you're a student you'd be better living in Chester if you live in Cheshire. There is much more to do and you're not in the middle of nowhere. Oh and don't live in Crewe it's crap.

The stereotype of Cheshire is: Manchester's grossly expensive and posh hinterland, inhabited entirely by footballers, footballer's wives and other persons with an excess of money over good taste. Like all stereotypes, there is more than a grain of truth in this. Places like Wilmslow, Prestbury, Alderley Edge probably conform most closely to the stereotype. Cheshire is a large and pleasant, but unspectacular county, though, with lots of other aspects, a fine historic County town (Chester) and one or two surprisingly drab and industrially gloomy areas (Macclesfield and Crewe spring to mind). Generally though, it's prosperous and rural with some pleasant small market towns (Nantwich, for example, has little of Crewe's industrial grot despite it being nominally in the same Borough) and would probably be regarded by most people as a good if rather expensive place to live.
