Where is the best place to live in England, near Lincolnshire

Where is the best place to live in England, near Lincolnshire?
I grew up in Lincolnshire and moved to California with my family, have been living here almost 5yrs now. But I want to move back to England, I am in my twenties and want to be somewhere close to Lincolnshire as I have relatives there, but wouldn't want to be living there as the job opportunities aren't so good and there isn't much to do! Where are the best areas for someone of my age, I need somewhere thats safe, reasonable rent prices, good job opportunities and easy to socialize and meet people...lots of transport options too! Any suggestions? Will be much appreciated!

If you are going to purchase a car for visits to Lincoln live in LEEDS. Plenty of work and nightlife, pubs galore and country restaurants.

The Staffordshire Moorlands. About an hour away from Lincolnshire. About 30 minutes from Manchester and Birmingham so plenty of job oppurtunities! Its very safe, big open feild everywhere you look, is gorgeous place to live, most places are the real british countryside. I dont know about rent, but a 3 bedroom semi is around £120,000! Everyone is very warm and welcoming, very laid back! Good buses and trains.
