I know it all depends on where you live etc... But I just want a rough idea of how much I may need to be earning when I decide to leave home for paying a mortage, insurance, food, etc.... Just an average please, without having a minus in my bank and not having to have REALLY strict budgets.

i live in the northwest of england rent 300 a month council tax 70 a month utility bills: gas electric and water 100 a month food if living on your own about 80 a month if living on your own you will get a reduction in your council tax

In compared to the US England is very expensive to live in. Imagine California, how expensive the homes are there, well that's england, only the homes are the size of matchboxes. Cars are also expensive and the cost of gasoline is by the Litre not gallon, so you would be paying รข‚¬3.00 a litre. Whatever it costs in pounds you'd have to double to figure out the cost in dollars. You probably wouldn't be able to afford a mortgage you'd have to look into renting a flat, but on top of renting a flat you'd have to pay for a television license, then cable television (skye tv) along with a slew of other things that you don't get charged for in the US. You might not be able to afford a car, however, depending on where you live, public transportation is fantastic so you could get away with not having a car if you lived close to a city or town. Are you legally allowed to work in England? Some where that doesn't have to pay you under the table? Do you have a profession that you can go into in the UK? Working a retail job or a job at the pub will not earn you enough to be able to afford to live anyhwhere unless you move in with friends or a roommate. Sorry but it's one of the reasons I never moved back to the UK to live and work, I couldn't afford there what I can afford here in the US. Good luck
