I live in england and would like to know if you need a license to use a kayak - not white water rafting - in a river and where i can get it from, what age you need to be.

idk about England, but across the pond, I think you have to register kayaks and canoes over a certain length.

I can confirm that you do not need any form of license to kayak anywhere in England. Although it is reccomended that you join the BCU - British Canoe Union - who can provide appropriate training courses, insurance etc to cover you for the level of water that you are paddling.
