I plan to move to England in a couple of years and I was wondering if I need to become a citizen of England to live there for only a couple of years until I decide if I want to stay there for good or could I live there with just my passport?

As an American citizen, you may visit ngland for up to 6 months without a visa. you may NOT work, or stay longer without a visa. Work visas are extremely difficult to get and usualy require a college degree and skill in a much needed area of work.ALL other Europeans are ahead of Americans in this limited job market. You can begin your research by reading visa requirements at the site below.

I was able to get work as a domestic when I was there for 9 years. If you can do work & get paid cash & support yourself. They have no way of finding you once you are in the country. I was told that by emigration. When I left the country I told them I was living & traveling with gypsies all those years. The agency I worked for is no longer there. The lady retired. Once you get there you can find someone to marry for citizenship, but it will cost at least $5,000 probably. I did live-in work so didn't have to rent a place. I never drove either, so didn't have to have a driving licence. Or you can stay the 6 months, & have the money to sustain yourself, they want proof & where you will be staying. Say you will stay for two week & they will stamp you for 6 mths anyway, but you only have to show money enough for two weeks & have a return ticket or they will not let you in the country.
