It's always been a dream of mine to live in London, or somewhere in England since I was little. I'm going to college and am going to get a degree in European history. Would I have a good chance of finding a job/expanding my knowledge if I moved over their?

Have you heard about our economical condition? People that live here can't even get a job, leave it for about 10 years, maybe we'll be out of the recession then!

being honest there is not much employment here there are thousands of people with degrees masters and post graduates that are working minimum wage we are in a recession read the british newspapers online a few of my friends at uni were from south africa , most have now returned home or emigrated to canada , australia or america

Not with a degree from a university in the United States. They do not acknowledge any degree from the States because they have a different grading system over in Great Britain. A student has to have all their teachers sign that they are ready for the next class, while we do letter grading. So if you want to move to England, then you will need to have a degree from one of their Universities to get a job. My AP American History teacher got a degree from Oxford, and eventhough it was a masters degree the United States school systems would not recognize her degree. She had to go through school again at UF to work as a teacher. I suggest you do some research into this matter since it could set you back up to 8 years, and then there is the matter of the schooling cost to go with it.

Where are you coming from? If it's outside the EC you have no chance of getting a Work Permit. On UK TV this evening the Prime Minister stated that there was a stop to all Non EC immigration. Ian M

Just to add to the other answers - there are more history graduates looking for jobs teaching history than there are history classes in British schools. There is no demand for history teachers, so your chance of getting a history-related job is either very small (if you are an EU citizen) or zero (if you are not from within the EU). What we are short of in the UK are mathematics teachers.

Get a job lined up at Starbucks first, lol. Then figure out how you will be able to afford London!

even in the united states a degree in history is worthless. what is your back up plan? i suggest getting a job as a math or science teacher, travel to the uk in the summers when you are off. this is what i do.
